Joanna Lumley's Nile

Since reading (even magazines) seems to be a distant pleasure since having a new baby in my life, my favorite television program right now that feeds my travel heart is Joanna Lumley's Nile. Some of you might remember her from her Absolutely Fabulous days as Patsy Stone...an unbelievable character & fantastic show that dealt with women's issues in a comic relief & over the top sort of way.

Joanna is so effortless, so charismatic and lovely. I just want to be her sidekick for a day...a day on the Nile that is! Joanna's personal journey is to follow the river from northern Egypt & then traveling 4200 miles to its source. It's also a geographical lesson of wonder that expands the mind in Africa. Joanna's intrigue of the nomadic people in Africa & the Nile started for her as a young child. It's a remarkable quest for her & her passion for it all is so real and tangible. It's also a joy for me to watch Joanna, as she reminds me SO much of my late mother Kate, and I suppose that's an additional comfort for me while I sit for that coveted hour, once a week. Check it out ladies, you won't be disappointed. Take a peek...
