Anthology: The Slow Life

Ladies, I'm thrilled to learn of a new quarterly magazine hitting the stands in October. It's called Anthology -- Living with Substance & Style. The first issue in particular caught my attention...The Slow Life.

A description from their site: A new quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home décor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. We envision the magazine as a collection of stories shared with readers.

In her blog post on the inspiration for the theme "The Slow Life," Meg, Anthology's Creative Director, expresses the joy of letting go of the map (GPS) on a recent visit to San Diego. In more ways than one, we've explored this theme as a group, and certainly the idea of slowing down is something we strive for as individuals (in our own way, of course!).

They have a way to preview Anthology online, but I'm so in love with the print, and there are so few great shelter/design mags anymore that I don't want to ruin a thing--I want to settle in to my couch with a hot cup of coffee, open it up and be totally surprised and delighted with each new page I turn. The logo reminds me a bit of Martha Stewart's Blueprint (RIP), and the cover illustration brings to mind The New Yorker. Lest I dork out any further on a MAGAZINE, you have to see the stop-action trailer (below) and the lovely music that accompanies it.

With the debut of this new magazine (Yay! Print!) I'll  share a book on this same topic:  In Praise of Slowness: Challenging the Cult of Speed, and a super cool event that I missed this year, but cannot miss again: CAMP CONFAB, at Suzie's Farm in Imperial Beach.

Now take a deep breath . . .  and SIGH.
