Oh Mister Ice Cream Man!

Ahhh, the sweet sound of the ever treasured ice cream truck driving through the neighborhood. Pure magic really. As an adult, the music is very Pavlovian and despite the loads of sugar, preservatives, dyes and ingredients that are too difficult to pronounce, it still evokes a happy feeling of anticipation. As a parent, I turned off the urge to fling open the door with my daughter and run wild to find the rollin' ice cream man. For the past 2 years I have worked very hard to keep my daughters body void of any sugar and well, free of crap. However, the other night it was undeniable. We all ran after the truck while frantically checking our pockets for change and getting giddy from the whole experience. We were on a mission for junk. This was my daughters first real & bona fide sugar experience...we opted for a "fruit" popsicle. Mama & Papa split a Snickers ice cream bar...yum. We were all into it. It was really just about the experience of it all...truly just relaxing and letting go. And don't it feel good!

  1. That sounds like so much fun! I know what you mean about the music, how loaded it is with memories of hot summer days and melting popsicles. Can't wait to chase one down with the boys someday, money in hand, excited about the prospect of sweet treats. Love the black border on your photo, classic shot.
